Professional microgreen grow trays with or without holes
The professional microgreen trays set are perfect for growers wanting to grow larger amounts. One can easily grow 1 to 2 kilograms of fresh greens with 2 to 4 sets of grow trays.
By set meaning one tray with holes and one tray without holes.
Each microgreens tray is 52cm x 27cm x 3cm.
Follow these steps when planting microgreens:
- Fill the tray with holes with moist grow medium.
- Then, sow the tray with desired seeds. Sow seeds evenly and avoid clumps.
- Mist seeds and press down firmly on top of the grow medium.
- Place the tray without holes on top of the sown seeds. Add weight in the form of a tile or brick. 1 kg should do the trick. This helps seeds geminate evenly, remove seed hulls and form strong roots.
- After seeds have germinated, remove the weight and flip to tray. Place the tray without holes on top of germinating greens so that it acts as a dome. This is called blackout.
- When seedlings reach the to of the tray, remove the tray and place the tray with holes (with greens in) inside the tray without holes.
- The tray without holes is now the bottom tray. Water greens in bottom tray sow that water is soaked up through the holes into the grow medium and to the roots.
